Good Guys Cigars 3 Top Cigars for October

It's been a warm October here in Knoxville, TN, and we've smoked more than our share of cigars. We present our 3 TOP CIGARS for October 2025.

Oliva Connecticut Reserve in Toro (6x50)

It seems like every morning I reach for one of these to calm my nerves and set the tone for the day, and every morning it delivers. Something resonates in my being when I light up a good ole Connecticut Shade and sip a hearty portion of good, black coffee. This is cream in my coffee, with a little dab of sugar. It's a mellow-to-medium-bodied cigar known for its creamy, smooth, and refined flavor profile. It is one of the more approachable offerings from the Oliva brand, making it a popular choice for both new and experienced cigar enthusiasts.

Blend and origin

  • Wrapper: A golden-blond Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper gives the cigar its silky, creamy character.

  • Binder and filler: The core of the cigar is composed of aged, Cuban-seed long-filler tobaccos from Nicaragua.

  • Origin: The cigars are meticulously hand-rolled in Nicaragua at the Tabacalera Oliva de Estelí factory.

Core flavors and tasting notes

  • Cream and butter: A silky and creamy mouthfeel is a defining feature, often accompanied by sweet, buttery notes.

  • Toasted nuts and toast: Notes of toasted almonds and buttered toast provide a comforting, bready element to the profile.

  • Cedar and wood: A consistent, subtle woodiness is present throughout the smoke, adding a classic, pleasant aroma.

  • Coffee: Hints of coffee and coffee beans, particularly toward the finish, complement the creamier notes.

  • Sweetness: a mild sweetness that can include hints of honey, vanilla, or caramel.

  • Subtle spice: While a mild cigar, a well-balanced spice and a touch of white pepper can be detected, especially in the later stages of the smoke.

El Rey Del Mundo Oscuro in Robusta Larga (6x54)

Thank the cigar gods for this one. Affordable, approachable, debonair. For the price, you just can't beat it. Billowing smoke, dark and delicious, that's bark is way worse than it's bite. Flavor Bomb Supreme!

The El Rey del Mundo is a full-flavored, medium-to-full-bodied cigar with a complex and robust flavor profile. Though originally a Cuban brand, this specific cigar is made in Honduras by the Villazon factory, known for producing other classic brands like Punch and Hoyo de Monterrey. It is well-regarded among enthusiasts for its rich character and value.

Blend and construction

  • Origin: Handmade in Honduras using select Honduran long-filler tobaccos.

  • Wrapper: A dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf Oscuro, which adds to its full-bodied and complex flavors. Some versions are also available with a lighter Ecuadoran-grown Sumatra Natural wrapper.

  • Binder: Honduran tobacco.

  • Size: As a Toro-shaped cigar, it measures 6 inches long with a 54 ring gauge.

Flavor profile

This cigar offers a dynamic smoking experience with a range of flavors that evolve throughout the smoke.

  • First third: Starts with initial notes of sweet spice, black pepper, leather, and earth.

  • Middle third: Develops a creamy, woody character that smooths out the profile, along with hints of cocoa, cinnamon, and caramel.

  • Final third: The flavor deepens with notes of rich espresso, cinnamon bark, and a sweet, smoky finish.

Kristoff Veinte Twentieth Anniversary in Toro (6.5x54)

McGillBilly introduced us to this one, and then Glen Case told us all about it in person. Wow. It's been a long time since Kristoff blew me t*ts off. But, they're off.

The Kristoff Veinte Twentieth Anniversary Toro is a medium-to-full-bodied, celebratory cigar known for its rich, robust, and complex flavor profile. Commemorating 20 years of Kristoff cigars, this cigar offers a deep, harmonious smoking experience with an evolving taste throughout the burn.

Blend and construction

The Kristoff Veinte features a four-nation blend:

  • Wrapper: A dark and toothy Brazilian Arapiraca leaf.

  • Binder: An Indonesian Sumatra leaf.

  • Filler: A blend of tobaccos from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania.

Flavor profile and evolution

The flavor journey of the Veinte Toro evolves across the thirds:

  • First third: An opening burst of rich mocha, which is a fusion of coffee and dark chocolate notes. It is accompanied by subtle undertones of cedar, citrus, and mixed pepper spices, which may include Asian spices.

  • Middle third: The mocha separates into distinct coffee and dark chocolate notes. The citrus notes may diminish, while the spices intensify and the woody cedar lingers in the background.

  • Final third: The coffee and spices dominate the finish, while the chocolate and cedar continue to round out the profile. Reviewers note a smooth, sweet, and satisfying finish.
